The RM of Piney in Manitoba’s southeast corner is a cost-effective and business-friendly municipality in which to do business. And the small-town quality of life here is second to none.
Industry Sectors
Agriculture, forestry and industry have a long and successful track record in SE Manitoba. Our region enjoys a variety of agricultural operations including crops, animals, genetics, greenhouses, and specialty production. Peat moss is harvested just outside our region with a processing plant within our borders. The logging industry gave rise to many of our Sunrise Corner communities and continues today. A number of retail, service and manufacturing businesses support our residents and businesses.
Transportation
We are well located in Manitoba’s far southeast corner with efficient highway transportation access to both Canadian and US markets.
Development Support
The municipal team is here to encourage the development of new businesses while supporting current businesses and helping them grow.
Sunrise Corner Economic Development
After more than ten years of regional collaboration, the Piney Stuartburn Economic Development Board concluded operations effective May 21, 2026, ending its involvement in Sunrise Corner Economic Development & Tourism.
Residents, business owners, community organizations, and tourism stakeholders with questions regarding local business support, tourism marketing, or community development are encouraged to contact the individual offices of the RM of Piney or the RM of Stuartburn directly for further information.
